Subsquid Labs is asking for $264,838.09 to help with the costs of running data archives for Polkadot and Kusama.
Archives provide important historical data for different projects in the Polkadot ecosystem, allowing them to access and explore on-chain data.
In Q2 2024, there was a huge increase in the demand for archival data, going from 110.6 GiB to about 3,095.17 GiB.
They launched the SQD mainnet, which helps make the Polkadot network more decentralized and secure.
Subsquid Labs improved their tools for developers, like adding new features for data queries and access control.
During Q2 2024, they served a large amount of data, cutting across different public chains while handling many archive requests.
The team upgraded their Cloud API to better support Polkadot's growth and make it easier for developers to build applications.

From what I understand this funding request is for public chains and not parachains, which is mentioned to have transitioned to a paid model. Supporting on-chain archives for public chains is paramaount in my opinion and should get the necessary funding.
