PolkadotAvatars is a project that lets you use the same video game character in many different games. It's like having one toy that you can play with in all your favorite games.

Here's what it does:

You can make one special character on a website.
You can use that same character in games made with Roblox, Unity, or Unreal game engines.
The games don't need to use cryptocurrency to work.
Your character can earn rewards in games.

The team wants to build more over the next year, like:

A better website to make your character.
Tools for game makers to add this feature.
New games to play with your character.
More parts to customize your character.

This helps Polkadot by:

Letting more people use and see what Polkadot can do.
Giving a fun use for digital collectibles.
Preparing for future online identity tools.

This proposal resurrects the failed metaverse avatar narrative, ignoring technological barriers and the lack of user adoption. We have identified different priorities that are worthy of treasury funding.

Although I can see that the project has made obvious efforts to move forward, I believe that, unfortunately, this is not the right time for Polkadot or its Treasury to finance this type of project. I am voting NAY.

We had discussions with the proposer in our public chat. They should release the MVP they have developed on the $60K grant received from the Games Bounty, and let the community discover the work done so far. After the initial reaction from the community, they should ideally reapply for a first milestone, and should make further proposals where necessary to continue development.

I'm not really seeing anything new here, this is basically a rehash of the Exosama/Gromlins/whatever Donnie is doing now (which I'm sure a lot of people would rather we forget :D). The comparison to Roblox etc. I also don't really like, in my experience these platforms are like lightning in a bottle and imitation rarely works. Overall, it seems like a half-baked idea, don't really people playing this at all and when I say this I don't really know what "this" is as there is only a concept and no demo.
