Description

https://polkadot.subsquare.io/referenda/1759

RegionX Hub is a special app for Polkadot.

  • It helps people use Coretime, which is like computer power.
  • It is the only place to buy and sell Coretime easily.
  • They made the first trustless marketplace on Kusama.
  • A secondary market lets people resell extra Coretime.
  • This helps small projects afford to join Polkadot.
  • They want to help new projects grow in the ecosystem.
  • They plan to add more features and work with other teams.
  • Their goal is to make Coretime simple and useful for everyone.

RegionX has so far received ~$335K through Polkadot referenda 796 ($127.8K), 915 ($20.3K), 1410 ($90K), and 1595 ($49K), and I think the product quality is very, very far from satisfactory. I can list various reasons why RegionX stands to be a non-product still. This proposal should be submitted in considerable smaller milestones, and the team should first work to improve their UX/UI to bring the application to modern standards. Nay.

Maybe it's a bit early to develop the coretime sale market. It's better to develop some simple market interfaces with a relative low cost for the 1st step IMO. For now I abstain.

Do we really need to spend this many resources to making the secondary market for coretime purchases streamlined to this extent? Presumably, the people who'll be purchasing coretime are developers with technical expertise. Do we really need this one click purchase, and other fluff features?

I also find it concerning that there doesn't seem to be strategy for RegionX team to make this tool self-sustainable. I understand that the volume isn't there to achieve this at the moment but since it looks like have their eye on the horizon, I would like to see some sort of plan in place.

Given the amount that has already been received, and that the product's quality is currently unsatisfactory, we don't agree with this funding. Also, milestones should be smaller and closely linked to concrete progress before any further funding is provided.

I agree with the other DAO members who believe that the result delivered is unsatisfactory, because, in my opinion, what I have seen does not seem to be a product worthy of the price being paid. The UX model needs to be improved so that a much better product can be seen.

I don’t think we have enough parachains in place yet to execute this effectively. It’s an important goal, but the timing feels premature, we need broader parachain adoption before investing heavily in this approach.
