A group called Bifrost and Hyperbridge is asking for 795,000 DOT.
They want to help make it easier for people to use DOT in different places.
They noticed that not many people or money can get into Polkadot, which slows down its growth.
Their plan is to give rewards for providing DOT liquidity in other networks like Arbitrum and Ethereum.
The aim is to make DOT more popular and used widely in the web3 space.
This will help developers and users join the Polkadot ecosystem better.
The idea started as a group project but had to be split into smaller parts.

It seems generally well thought out. It would be great to understand the larger strategy. And potentially it would be better to wait for Asset hub to launch and then direct all bridges and liquidity there, however this seems good to spread awareness now.

I really understand the importance of empowering the DeFi sector within Polkadot, however I wonder, are we doing it the right way in this way, are we creating a DeFi sector that only works through grants from the Polkadot Treasury? I am a little concerned that we do not have a DeFi ecosystem that can sustain itself.

I would rather have smaller proposals to provide liquidity to meet user/wallet activity demands if it's absolutely necessary and lack of liquidity is harming the ecosystem somehow. I don't believe the burden should fall to the treasury neither, providing liquidity is a role for independent actors when profitable. If, for whatever reason, it's not profitable that's what needs to be fixed.
