We are not sure if this would cause more harm than good. We are also very concerned about the execution of this potential change. If not executed well, it could lead to many problems.

I don't think there are enough reasons to justify this change. DOT is the native token of Polkadot, and JAM will host Polkadot alongside other chains with their own native tokens. I personally don't see Polkadot/DOT as an impediment to JAM's growth or success. Also, the proposer should proceed with a wide public discussion first before pushing this on chain. Nay.

A complete rebranding would be one of the most damaging thing to happen to Polkadot. While I share the proposer's anxiety in terms of the lack of clarity surrounding how the JAM transition will be handled, rebranding is not the way to go.
