active
Description

https://polkadot.subsquare.io/referenda/1590

Gossamer is a team that works on Polkadot Relay Chain Validator using the Go programming language. They want to make the network better by being a full node and a validator node. They are asking for money to keep working on their project for six months. They will focus on building alternative implementations of Polkadot validator, JAM implementation, and improving Collator functionality. Gossamer has received funding before and they want to keep helping the Polkadot ecosystem grow. They will share updates on their progress every month.

I believe we need experienced development teams building out the current and next phases of Polkadot.

We think the other deliverables should be delivered before submitting a request for a new proposal.

Not sure how many users this client has; Maintaining a client is expensive; Client diversity has not higher priority in current phase.

even though the team reputation has been questioned previously the implementation for validators using go is a must.

shifting to abstain after digging into section 4.1 - looks like some of the promised work from the last proposal (ref 709) still isn’t done. unclear now if more funding should be provided until past funding work was completed first.

Although we don't think it's a problem to have multiple refs running in parallel, it seems like this is a redirect.

I'm switching to nay due to the under-delivery of the previous proposal. My original comments follow. :: The team should be supported. However, I have two issues. One is that if we are not supporting another client implementation, Kagome, then I don't understand why this client implementation should be supported. Other is, over-referencing JAM seems to digress from the main subject of this proposal.

Client implementation diversity is the right way for Polkadot. We support this proposal. EDIT: We are switching to Nay because the team has not yet completed all deliverables from their previous proposal; therefore, it makes sense to hold new funding until those tasks are fully completed.
