  • Fuelarts and BitBasel updated their proposal for Polkadot based on feedback from the community.
  • They want to start a 6-month educational program for artists, collectors, and brands in the NFT 2.0 space.
  • This program aims to help Polkadot grow as it had a great year in 2024 with many transactions and NFT creations.
  • They are asking for $316,000 USDT to support their project.
  • The goal is to create a strong community of artists and collectors and help Polkadot become a leader in the NFT market.
  • They encourage everyone to check out their proposal and participate in the discussions.

I want to acknowledge the considerable work that has gone into developing this proposal. However, I personally have reservations regarding the current state and future of the NFT market. Data from various platforms, such as the report from Decrypt (https://decrypt.co/301053/nft-market-hits-three-year-low-in-trading-and-sales-report) indicating a multi-year low in transaction volume in 2024, leads me to a somewhat negative outlook. Additionally, despite previous commendable efforts within Polkadot with projects like RMRK and Kodadot, building a strong and engaged artist community has proven difficult. Considering this context, I am not convinced that a $300k investment in this area would generate substantial positive outcomes for Polkadot at this time..

I'd echo Alice and Bob's comment on AAG that we don't have a larger strategy for the art space. It's difficult to gauge the return on just this program itself. I'd like to see more data/strategy around what it means and would take for Polkadot to be the #1 place for blockchain art.

I think the market for NFT in the art world as a good fit, artists seem to be operating in an clandestine manner, from my personal experiences i can say that educating and building community is more time consuming than money consuming, I will like to see them start small with meetups with the Big art community in Florida, this meetups can be enabled through polkadot programs like the Roots program, I do believe that a florida artist community alignment will secure behind this project could secure this kind of $ ask.

I don't believe there's any value to be gained in NFT's for Polkadot, another concern is that management and supervision seems to account for ~70% of the budget (including mentors, if we were to exclude them it would still be >50% of the budget) which seems unbalanced.

I have same worries with other voters'. In my opinion, polkadot should spend less money on education and marketing, but more on the scramble for web3 users with other ecosystems.

The team is great. Having gone down to Miami to see this in action, we can say confidently- there's tremendous value. Still feel like the execution for "creating a funnel for Polkadot" isn't exactly there yet.

A more structured and scalable approach may be required before moving forward with this proposal. In addition, it's unclear whether the NFT area within Polkadot warrants this level of focus at this time. Nay here.

Echoing the sentiments of other members, this feels like a substantial request for something that has yet to demonstrate its viability. A more measured approach, such as a shorter three-month timeline with a lower budget, would be preferable at this stage.
