Polkadot is working to grow its developer base, especially targeting Web2 developers interested in new areas. Weever (formerly WEB3DEV) has been helping Polkadot grow in Latin America through education and collaboration. They are now focusing on making Polkadot more accessible to entry-level developers, especially in Brazil where other ecosystems are becoming popular.
Many Web2 developers in Latin America are curious about blockchain but lack beginner-friendly resources to explore Polkadot. Weever proposes a comprehensive onboarding journey to integrate both Web2 and Web3 developers into Polkadot's Web3 ecosystem. They will guide developers through hands-on tutorials and activities to build decentralized finance (DeFi) infrastructure from scratch.
Weever's goals include deploying 5 applications on Westend via tutorials, onboarding 1,500 Web2 developers to Polkadot in Latin America, hosting an online hackathon, educating 500 developers on Polkadot governance and tech, and updating EVM tutorials for the Asset Hub by Q3 2025. They will also run weekly livecoding support sessions focused on Solidity and Web3 integration.
This initiative aims to turn Latin America's untapped developer talent into a thriving community of Polkadot builders. The content will be subtitled in Portuguese and Spanish and remain available online as a long-term resource. Weever's efforts will drive Asset Hub adoption, fuel the Polkadot Hub's expansion, and position Polkadot as the top choice for Latin America's emerging developers.
